Then he moved to New York City where he trained for thirteen years with Ken Bald, who in the 1950s drew Dr. Kildare cartoons and other Marvel Comics. His first major success came when Fluharty designed a cover for Mad magazine in 1996. The New York Times then commissioned five caricatures of Jerry Lewis. "That really started it all," said Fluharty. From 2004 to 2008, Fluharty contributed five covers for Der Spiegel magazine. His work was reproduced in the book and traveling show The Art of Der Spiegel: Cover Illustrations Over Five Decades. Fluharty illustrated three children's books published by Crossway: Fool Moon Rising (2009), cowritten with his wife, Kristi Fluharty; The Barber Who Wanted to Pray (2011) by R. C. Sproul, Sr.; and The Boy and the Ocean (2013) by Max Lucado. For The New York Times in 2013, he painted a caricature portrait of Woody Allen towering over Diane Keaton, Dianne Wiest, Scarlett Johansson and Penélope Cruz, who were "strong and memorable women" who had played leading roles in Allen's films. Fluharty and four advertising illustrators founded Pitch House, a company that creates storyboards.

Napoleon Beanaparte

Napoleon Beanaparte
It was bound to happen sooner or later. The Mr Bean World Invasion has begun with "Napoleon Beanaparte" in this manipulation of the famous painting of Napoleon Bonaparte by Jacques-Louis David featuring Rowan Atkinson's timeless character, Mr Bean. Enough of this foolishness. On to some serious work now... if that's possible. Hope you got a kick out of it!

Edouard Bean Manet’s Plum Brandy

This is a quick manipulation of Rowan Atkinson’s Mr Bean featured in the great master Edouard Manet’s famous painting “Plum Brandy”. One more in a long line of Mr Bean absurdities and a great stress reliever at the end of the day. More to come in the near future.

Mrs Frank Millet Bean by John Singer Sargent

Back by popular demand. Mr Bean finds his way into yet another great masters painting. Mrs Frank Millet Bean by John Singer Sargent. I'm presently working on a large ad campaign so in between the long hours, I enjoy doing these silly manipulations of Mr Bean. It's relaxing, I get to experiment with new techniques but most of all, Mr Bean is by far the most popular subject I have ever worked with so I will continue to put these out there. I've had numerous requests for these images in high resolution which now number over 50. If you're interested, simply email me your request to rodneywpike@gmail.com.  Many of these images can be found at my Mr Bean Collection link on this site. Custom requests are also welcome.
